Just a week ago, one of our candidates went through an offline Flydubai assessment at the company’s Dubai office — and here’s what the process actually looks like
The Basics
Location: Flydubai HQ, Dubai
Participants: 12 candidates
Scheduled time: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Actual time: finished around 3:00 PM
Invitations were sent a week in advance, with an option to choose your interview day and slot.
1️⃣ Registration & Introduction
Candidates arrived around 8:45 AM for registration.
Everyone gathered in a meeting room where company representatives talked about Flydubai, working conditions, salary, schedule, and benefits.
Next up: height and weight check + a quick tattoo inspection.
( The 212 cm reach test was not conducted that day.)
2️⃣ English & Math Test
After a short recruiter briefing, candidates were moved to another room for the online assessment, done via phone using a provided link.
The test had three parts:
Reading comprehension — read a short text and answer questions about it.
It was pretty easy since you could go back to the text anytime.
Vocabulary & synonyms — choose the best synonym for a highlighted word out of four options.
Again, not too difficult.
Math & logic — no calculators allowed. Everyone got pencils and paper.
Examples included:
• converting AED ↔ USD
• calculating flight times
After the test, recruiters left the room again for a quick discussion.
3️⃣ Group Exercise
The next stage was a team activity.
12 candidates were divided into 2 groups of 6.
Scenario:
“You’re on a boat heading to an island. From two lists of items, you must choose which ones to take to survive.”
There were two categories of items:
• Heavy items (stove, large first-aid kit, axe, fire extinguisher, etc.)
• Light items (lighter, small first-aid kit, fishing rod, compass, paper map, matches, etc.)
Process:
First, everyone selected 6 heavy and 6 light items individually.
Then, as a team, you had to agree on 6 final items and explain your choices.
Each participant presented one item on behalf of the group — explaining why it was chosen and what personal role they played in the decision.
⚠️Recruiters carefully observed interaction, communication, and teamwork.
Some candidates who were too shy or barely spoke didn’t make it to the next stage.
4️⃣ Final Interview
Each personal interview lasted about 30–40 minutes.
There were two recruiters in the room — one asked questions, the other typed and clarified details.
Main topics included:
• work and life experience
• reasons for leaving previous jobs
• why aviation, and why Flydubai
• why you left your last airline (e.g., Emirates)
Then came two real examples using the STAR method (Situation – Task – Action – Result):
A situation with a language or cultural barrier
A situation showing teamwork — what you did, and what result it led to
Additional questions:
• When can you start training?
• Are you comfortable serving alcohol?
• How do you feel working with colleagues from different cultures?
5️⃣ Results & Documents
⏳ They said the results would come within 15 business days,
but the candidate received an email just 4 days later:
“Congratulations! You have been selected.
Please do not resign from your current job yet.”
(This message was automatic — the recruiters already knew she wasn’t currently employed.)
The email also requested:
• contact details of your previous HR (for reference check);
• a police clearance certificate (for those living in Dubai);
• a cabin crew license, if available.
There were 4 business days to submit all documents.
They also asked if she could start training within 2 weeks, since the next batch was about to begin.
✅ Summary & Tips
The Flydubai assessment is structured, fast-paced, and well-organized.
Each stage checks something different:
💬 English level
🧮 Logic and attention to detail
🤝 Teamwork and communication
🧠 Professional attitude and stress management
💡 Key insight: Recruiters care less about “perfect answers” — they look for how you think, listen, and interact.
One candidate was polite but kept raising her hand for permission to speak every time — she didn’t pass the final stage.
Two others were extremely shy and barely talked during the group task — they didn’t make it past round two.
🚀 Be calm, confident, and engaged.
Show teamwork, initiative, and clear communication — that’s what really makes you stand out at Flydubai.
